Although I may be going slowly, I am going to attempt to compile a list of some of the wonderful books I have read in my day, so that if and when you are stuck for a good book, you might come here and check out some of my favorites for ideas. :)
(If the title has an star (*) next to it, it means I haven't finished the series yet or haven't read all of it yet, so I can't fully recommend it for complete appropriateness)
I recommend (in no particular order except in which I think of them):
The Chronicles of Narnia - C.S. Lewis
The Lord of the Rings - J.R.R. Tolkien
The Giver - Lois Lowry* (There are four in the series, I think, but I have only read The Giver, which is the first)
Harry Potter - J.K. Rowling*
The Inheritance Cycle - Christopher Paolini* (I've read Eragon and am now working on Eldest)
The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins
The Good News We Almost Forgot - Kevin DeYoung (who we have the privilege of listening to at Transfer this year.)
Morning and Evening - Charles Spurgeon
Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
Emma - Jane Austen
Little Women - Louisa May Alcott
The Secret Garden - Frances Hodgson Burnette
Anne of Green Gables - L.M. Montgomery
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz - L. Frank Baum (Trust me, it's much different than the movie)
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland - Lewis Carroll (Same here, it's much different)
The Count of Monte Cristo - Alexandre Dumas
The Diary of a Nobody - George and Weedon Grossmith
The Importance of Being Earnest - Oscar Wilde (I read this entire play in an hour...it's worth it)
There will be more to come...when I have time to write them all.
