~ Free Writing ~

Today for school, we had to "free write".Write for 5 minutes non-stop. You cannot stop writing, the pen must never rest! As Mrs. Stewart puts it, a "thought dump", or "thinking on paper". Neeley and I both agreed, it was like journaling. Like rambling for school. It was honestly the most amazing 5 minutes of school I did today. We had to write about the church building, and I didn't quite know where to start.

This is what I wrote: "The church is a big building. I love it. It's like my second home. This place fills me with joy every time I see it. The church is more than just a building to me, it's a home. A sanctuary, a safe place, a hangout, a worship hall...a basketball court. A lovely place to pour my soul into. Sitting here in this chair, learning about how to 'free write', right here in this building is beautiful. This truly is my favorite place on earth. Not because of the size, or color, or temperature, but because I know that the Lord is present in this place. I feel the Holy Spirit all around me every time."

It's choppy, I know. I could do better. But I don't want to improve my thoughts, because that's just the way I think. Maybe I think in short sentences, who knows. thinking on paper, huh? I can do that. I enjoyed it extremely. Its the way I journal. Just, pour it out. All of it! Onto a once blank page in the book, that's now filled up with pretty little letters that might not make any sense to anyone but you. Maybe that's how love works. You can't really explain it and have it make perfect sense, you just feel it. It's just...there. I think the Psalmist decides to free write about God for a good 10 minutes or so in Psalm 134 and 135:
"Come, bless the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, who stand by night in the house of the Lord! Lift up your hands to the holy place and bless the Lord! May the Lord bless you from Zion, he who made the heaven and earth! (135) Praise the Lord! Praise the name of the Lord, give praise, O servants of the Lord, who stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God! Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing to his name, for it is pleasant! For the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel as his own possession. For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. Whatever the Lord pleases, he does, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all deeps. He it is who makes the clouds rise at the end of the earth, who makes the lightnings for the rain and brings forth the wind from his storehouses. (Psalm 134-135:7)

I love this. He just cannot explain, even in so many different ways, how vastly the Lord deserves praise. in heaven and on earth. in the seas and all deeps.

thanks for listening to (or in this case reading) my thought dump.:)
